I first hired this company back in 2006 to install a set of exterior drop shades at my Palm Springs condominium. I remember the installation process was easy and I could not have been happier with the quality of the shades themselves. Not one problem in almost 20 years. Fast-forward to 2025, I had moved and was looking for similar drop shades for a different home. Not remembering which company I had used in the past, I called several local companies to come out and give estimates for new exterior shades. The third company that came to the house had by far the best price, and seemed to me to be the best quality. Materials, installation, electric were all included in one bid. Easy. After being handed the written estimate, I recognized the co logo and realized this was the same company I had used almost 20 yrs prior. I was blown away to see that not only the same company, but the same owner, Darren, was still in business and was here taking measurements for my new exterior shades. After making the connection, we had a laugh and were both thrilled that I would be hiring Dropshades for a second time. The new job consisted of four electric exterior shades. I chose the exact color and darkness as I had in my previous home. They have been installed now for over two months and I could not be happier. Dropshades is a small, family run business. Darren and his team are simply the best! They arrive and walk you through the process of what would look best for your home and how to maximize your budget. They sent me a proposal and once approved, they stayed in touch with me on when the installation would begin. They installed my window coverings, and all the motorized coverings in 2 days. We are very happy with the Dropshades which were installed in our read yard patio. The folks at Dropshades--Darren, Cole, Asigh and, our installer, Tim--are an incredible team to work with. We live in the northern end of Cathedral City which can be very windy. We wanted a sturdy product that would hold up to our ever-changing weather patterns here in the Valley. Our existing aluminum shade structure has a slanted roof. In order to accommodate Dropshades, we had our landscape contractor add a new support post & cross beam. When your first meet with a Dropshades representative for an estimate, he will evaluate if your patio structure is level enough to accommodate the shades. The shades "glide" up and down a track when they are being opened or retracted. Be aware that windy conditions above 10 MPH can affect the operation of the shades. We always check that the shades stay in the tracks as they are retracted so that the fabric does not fold in on itself. Never leave the shades down overnight or in high winds. Dropshades include a remote control as viewed in the video. I also paid for an internet hub which lets me operate the shades via a smart phone app. We never considered using any other company than Dropshades. Our contractor highly recommended them. This is not a project that you will want to "cut corners" on. Go with the best, hire Dropshades!
I reached out to Darren to get some shades installed to help increase our privacy since it felt like we were living in a fishbowl. He came out and explained what our options were including the types of shades we could have installed and the costs for each option. Throughout the process, he answered all of our questions and gave honest assessments about what he would choose for the area and why. Then he took some measurements of all the windows and was on his way. Once I decided on what I wanted, I gave Darren a call and a couple of weeks later he and Chris came by the house to install them. The installation was done in a day and by the end it was like being in a whole new room. The shades themselves look great, are easy to operate (via remote) and have provided the privacy we always wanted. I highly recommend Dropshades for their professionalism and excellent quality of work!
We are very satisfied with our courtyard awnings - everything went smoothly - ordering process with Cole, communication with Asigh in their PD office. Our installers were on time, friendly and knowledgeable. Darren and Cole checked after installation was finished - all good. We will definitely use Dropshades again for other project.
I had Dropshades of Palm Desert come out because I did have some squeezing noises. When Anthony, their wonderful, employee came out we put the shade up and down many times and there wasn't a squeaking so he didn't have to fix anything. He said he wouldn't charge put some dry lube on it for me which he did. I wasn't told there would be a $125 cost to come out. Anthony said there would be a $125 charge to come out, but he didn't charge me because he was here after seeing my friend a mile away for maybe at the most 5 minutes. They sent him back to collect the $125 from me. I did call them and complained and the women on the other line said, I hear you loud and clean, but nothing was offered back to me. They have a good product, but I was actually surprised that is all they said to me.
I have been a very satisfied customer of Dropshades for the last five years. They are all MVP's in my book and work well with their customers. Starting with their customer service, I am fortunate to have worked with Asigh for those five years. She has handled my patio shade orders and numerous questions in a caring, professional and efficient manner. Then we have Darren and the installation team who I have also worked with the last five years. Each time I needed them, they have come out to my property and they were successful and handled my patio shade installations along with any maintenance and repairs that were needed.
